Lahaina Brewing Co. is rolling out a new Crafted for Community program that will turn sales of its Lokahi Pilsner into quarterly donations for Hawaiʻi nonprofits, with the effort kicking off on Giving Tuesday. Maui United Way is set as the first beneficiary, and the brewery says the recipient will rotate every quarter so different island organizations can get a turn at the funding.
How The Program Works
Under the Crafted for Community banner, Lahaina Brewing will donate a portion of Lokahi Pilsner sales every quarter to a Hawaiʻi nonprofit selected for that period, according to Maui Now. The initiative launches on Giving Tuesday, with Maui United Way named as the initial recipient. “Great beer should do more than just bring people together — it should help strengthen the community around it,” Mary Anderson, the company’s president and owner, told Maui Now.
Lokahi Pilsner And The Comeback Story
Lahaina Brewing selected its Lokahi Pilsner as the centerpiece of the effort. The brewery notes that lokahi refers to unity, balance and harmony in Hawaiian, which fits the community-focused pitch. On its website, the company describes how it lost its original Lahaina facility in the 2023 fires and then worked with partners to keep production in Hawaiʻi while reopening taproom locations. The brand now runs an Upcountry taproom and a Wailea craft kitchen as part of its push to reconnect with communities across the island, according to the brewery’s site.
