Today, the Lancaster community is holding a festive event, according to a recent Facebook post by the Lancaster Police Department. In a Facebook post, the event called Christmas on the Courts, is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Gay Street Basketball Courts, where local law enforcement and their partners will provide activities and giveaways for residents.
Children attending the event can receive free new toys, while supplies last, in a family-friendly setting. In addition to toys, hats, gloves, and coats will also be distributed, subject to availability. The event will also provide refreshments, including hot chocolate and cookies, followed by Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwiches.
Throughout the event, children will have the opportunity to play basketball on the courts, participating in games and activities. According to the Lancaster Police Department, children must be present to receive toys, ensuring that each gift is given directly to its intended recipient.
The event was made possible through the combined efforts and contributions of local businesses and organizations. Nutramax Laboratories, Walmart Lancaster – Hwy 9 Bypass, Food Lion, Chick-Fil-A Lancaster, Lancaster Promise Neighborhood, and the City of Lancaster were recognized for their assistance in providing the gifts and activities. Additionally, Lancaster PD noted that big surprises may be in store, indicating there could be additional unexpected treats for attendees.
