Charlotte's bustling highways are set to experience a slight shift in their daily rhythm as maintenance work begins on one of the city's key interchanges. According to a statement obtained by NCDOT, paving operations will require the closure of a lane on the interchange connecting U.S. 521 North to the I-485 inner loop.
The activity is slated for non-peak hours, which will hopefully minimize disruption. Starting this week, the left lane of the ramp will see closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning today and concluding on Saturday.
The necessity for the closures stems from the need to ensure the safety of the paving crews as they labor to link new asphalt to the burgeoning I-485 Express Lanes. Motorists familiar with this particular stretch of road understand the vital role it plays in their daily travels.
