The Los Angeles Police Department has been actively working two separate fatal hit-and-run cases and made significant breakthroughs in apprehensions. However, authorities are still seeking assistance to find the individual responsible for the death of Tomas Lopez Onofre, a 32-year-old man killed in another incident. Onofre was struck on December 10th near the intersection of Florence and Kansas avenues in South Los Angeles, the LAPD reported.
According to KTLA, the family of Onofre, who was the primary caregiver for his grandmother and worked as a forklift operator, is seeking any information that will lead to the capture and conviction of the suspect. "I would just like to plea to the person who did this to our family to please come forward," Onofre's niece, Karen, told reporters. Notably, a $50,000 reward is offered for information that could resolve this case.
In the March 18th incident, 4-year-old Ma’Cya Clark was tragically killed when an Infiniti SUV was allegedly involved in a street race and crashed into a building. Both Shanae Glover, the driver, and Dania Wilson, Ma’Cya’s mother, were arrested after going into hiding for approximately nine months, as detailed by NBC Los Angeles. Glover was charged with murder and is held on $2 million bail, while Wilson was booked for child cruelty.
The second solved case involved a July 5th crash where Emerson Gonzalez, a 25-year-old man, was killed after a Porsche collided with his Honda sedan. Cierra Whitaker, the driver of the Porsche, fled the scene and was apprehended in Atlanta with the assistance of the FBI, according to ABC7. She has been released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 6.
LAPD has made a public appeal for help, and the South Traffic Division can be contacted with any information regarding the latest December incident. Tips can also be given anonymously through Crime Stoppers for those wishing to aid while maintaining their privacy.
