A hit-and-run incident in Los Angeles has left a 19-year-old male pedestrian with severe injuries, and authorities are now searching for the driver responsible. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), specifically the Valley Traffic Detectives (VTD), is investigating the case that occurred on the evening of December 9 and is calling for witnesses to come forward.
According to the LAPD's report, the event unfolded at approximately 7:55 p.m. when a white Toyota sedan traveling north on Van Nuys Boulevard hit the young man as he was using the crosswalk at Tupper Street. The driver, in an unlawful move, did not stop to offer help, nor did they provide identification before fleeing the scene.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded promptly to the emergency, transporting the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. The identity of the pedestrian is currently withheld, pending family notifications. In an effort to incentivize public assistance, the LAPD has highlighted a reward program that offers up to $25,000 for information that could lead to the driver's apprehension, conviction, or a civil resolution.
