The Largo Police Department is urgently continuing its search for 87-year-old Petro Kuqo, who went missing over a week ago. The senior citizen, considered endangered due to his advanced age, was last seen on a doorbell camera footage walking through the parking lot of his apartment complex at 1845 Oak Trail West on December 12, around 9AM.
Since his disappearance was reported, Largo Police have not let up in their search efforts. They've been leveraging all available resources, from on-the-ground grid searches to deploying canine units, in hopes of locating Kuqo. Surveillance footage from businesses and private residences is being combed through meticulously, the officials reported. A snapshot of these tireless efforts was shared in a social media post by the Largo Police Department on December 16.
In addition to these ground efforts, Largo Police have extended their search to the water and skies, engaging in marine and aerial searches with drones and helicopters. The collaboration with neighboring law enforcement agencies such as the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, and FWC has provided Largo Police with access to specialized units to broaden the scope of their quest for Kuqo. "Our team remains fully engaged," the Largo Police Department stated, emphasizing the ongoing and dynamic nature of the search operations.
The police are also calling on the public’s assistance, urging residents in Largo and the surrounding communities to remain watchful for any signs of the missing elderly man. "Please be on the lookout for Petro," the Largo Police Department advised, asking the public to scour any surveillance or doorbell camera footage they may have that overlaps with the time Kuqo went missing. The importance of community involvement is clear, as the department stressed, "No piece of information is too small." If anyone has seen Kuqo or has any detail that may seem relevant, they are encouraged to contact the Largo Police Department directly at 727-587-6730.
