The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Search and Rescue team conducted an operation Tuesday at Pine Creek after two climbers became stranded on the “Cat In The Hat” route. Their ropes became stuck on the fourth pitch, and bad weather was approaching, according to an Instagram post by LVMPD SAR.

Due to the approaching weather, SAR officers were deployed via AIR1 lizard hoist rather than a ground climb. Two officers freed the stuck ropes and guided the climbers to a safe ledge below, according to LVMPD SAR.

AIR1 airlifted the climbers and SAR officers using a double lizard hoist. The climbers were then transported to the BLM helipad and handed over to ground law enforcement.

With holiday weather expected to be poor, LVMPD SAR reminded adventurers to plan their outings carefully, as rain is forecasted through the holiday week and weekend. They emphasized the importance of checking the weather, dressing appropriately, and bringing winter provisions.
