
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue team conducted two back-to-back rescues on Thursday. In Red Rock Canyon, an injured hiker near Calico Tanks sprained their ankle, and "AIR1 arrived and inserted a SAR Officer who assessed the patient and packaged them for extraction," resulting in both the hiker and rescuer being airlifted to safety, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue.
Later, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue team responded to a second emergency in Lovell Canyon, where a father and son became stranded while off-roading. The father went on foot to seek help but was missing for several hours, prompting a coordinated search and rescue effort.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue on their Instagram account, the LVMPD Search and Rescue team responded to a second emergency and rescued a father and son. “Once the team arrived in the area, they located the vehicle and inserted a SAR officer,” stated the post. The father and son were safely brought to a location where they were transferred to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers.
