
A late-night shooting in southeast Tarrant County left one man dead and another injured Sunday, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responding to the 7800 block of Townsend Road found two men with gunshot wounds. One was later pronounced dead at a hospital, and the other was treated and released. Investigators say early findings indicate the shooting was accidental.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the man who died as 39-year-old Johnathan Isbell, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Authorities say Isbell was shot in the leg and later died at an area hospital.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene at about 11:45 p.m. and began life-saving measures before both men were taken to area hospitals, as reported by CBS Texas. CBS Texas also reported that the man who was shot in the foot was treated and released, while the other victim later died from his injuries.
Investigation Underway
The Sheriff’s Office has described the shooting as accidental in its preliminary findings and said detectives are still working to determine exactly what happened, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. No arrests or charges have been announced, and officials have not released additional details.
