The Sheriff's Office recently took to social media to highlight the exceptional contributions of its School Resource Officer (SRO) Division, with a special nod to Lt. Latress Morgan, who received the "Photo of the Month" honor from the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). According to a Facebook post by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office, their SROs engage in much more than just security; they form meaningful bonds, garner trust, and greatly influence the Lauderdale County students.
Sheriff Brian Kelley praised the growth of the School Resource Officer (SRO) program, highlighting the officers’ dedication, leadership, and care for students. He noted that the program not only ensures student safety during school hours but also promotes safer school environments, strengthens community ties, and supports positive outcomes for future generations. “I am extremely proud of how far our SRO program has come and the dedication our officers show every day,” Kelley said in a statement shared on the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office social media account.
Lt. Morgan of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office was recognized for her work in the SRO Division and her role as the LCSO D.A.R.E. instructor at Halls and Ripley schools. Her efforts in educating and mentoring students are seen as key contributions to the positive development of the county’s youth.
Reflecting the sheriff’s remarks, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office emphasized its ongoing commitment to supporting local schools, promoting student welfare, and backing officers who serve with professionalism and care.
