The City of Lawton is gearing up for the holiday season and as part of its preparations, some changes to regular services have been announced, ensuring residents stay informed. As seen on the city's official website, the holiday festivities will necessitate the closing of all City of Lawton offices. The Lawton Landfill and even the Lawton Public Library, which will see its doors close earlier at 5:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve.
One key alteration residents should take note of concerns the trash collection schedule. For those living in Area 3, don't expect your bins to be emptied on the usual Thursday slots of December 25 and January 1. According to information provided by the City of Lawton, trash typically collected on Thursday, December 25, will be picked up the following day, Friday, December 26. In the same stroke, the Friday, December 26 pickup for Area 4 has been moved to Saturday, December 27. In a preemptive move, Thursday, January 1 collections for Area 3 will also occur one day prior, on Wednesday, December 31.
These changes are part of a wider effort by the City of Lawton to accommodate the holiday celebrations while minimizing disruption to essential services like waste management. The City of Lawton sends out its best wishes to all, hoping for a "safe, happy, and restful holiday season," as noted in their announcement.
