Lawton’s Patterson Center was a hub of holiday activity this past weekend, as local families gathered for a Breakfast with Santa event that was anything but ordinary. The City of Lawton played host to an enchanting Willy Wonka–themed morning complete with a chocolate fountain, as reported by the City of Lawton's news release. This was no simple continental breakfast affair; it was a spread designed to spark joy in kids and parents alike.
The performers on hand covered a range of local talent. Kyle Sheffer and Jirah's Kids regaled attendees with holiday tunes, alongside Alyson Herne, Arsa Performing Arts, Fawn Richardson, and the Southwest Troubadours, who all contributed to the merry atmosphere, according to the City of Lawton news release. And though the music filled the room with festive notes, it was the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus that drew eyes and warmed hearts, as they listened to children’s Christmas wishes.
Beyond the joy of meeting Santa Claus, the event also included a raffle, the prizes of which were not just your run-of-the-mill raffle fare. Lucky children went home with brand new bicycles while others obtained gifts to cherish immediately or save for a Christmas surprise. Every child aged 0 to 12 left with a present, ensuring that the spirit of the season was felt by all, the City of Lawton noted. The celebratory breakfast wouldn’t have been possible without community support, which came in strong from the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
