As the festive season wanes, Lewisville residents find a sustainable way to dispose of their live Christmas trees. Lewisville Lake Park is welcoming trees for recycling into mulch until Friday, Jan. 9. This initiative by Keep Lewisville Beautiful (KLB) and Lewisville Parks and Recreation is not only an eco-conscious practice but also provides residents with free mulch for their gardening needs, as per the City of Lewisville.

Those with live Christmas trees can drop them off at the soccer fields, located near Lake Park Road and North Mill Street. However, there's a catch: the trees must be bare of any decorations – that means no nails, wire, ornaments, lights, or tinsel. Once the trees have been stripped to their natural state, the transformation process begins. After the sustainability makeover, free mulch will be available at the drop-off site from Friday, Dec. 26, through Saturday, Jan. 31, ready to nurture lawns, flower beds, or to lay down on walkways.

This eco-friendly effort is part of the “Sustainability” Big Move outlined in the Lewisville 2025 vision plan, a testament to the community's commitment to environmental stewardship.
