In a ceremony marked by the presence of international defense dignitaries, Lockheed Martin announced the rollout of the first F-35A Lightning II aircraft earmarked for the Finnish Air Force at their production facility. According to a news release from the White Settlement Police Department, this event symbolizes the beginning of a new era for Finnish air power and a bolstered strategic alliance across the Atlantic.

Finland's Minister of Defence, Antti Häkkänen, emphasized the nation's role as a dependable defence provider in the northern flank and highlighted their investment in industrial capabilities as a means to benefit the F-35 program not just locally but also at a more global level. Major General Timo Herranen, Commander of the Finnish Air Force, was quoted in the release saying, per the White Settlement Police Department, "In the Finnish operational environment, survivability, lethality and cooperation are imperative," and stated his anticipation for the whole new level of capability that the F-35 is set to bring when its operations commence in the following year.

Greg Ulmer, president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, spoke highly of the aircraft's performance and its role in fortifying the Nordic region and beyond. "The F-35 continues to demonstrate its ability to deter threats and prevail in combat, and it will give the Finnish Air Force a decisive edge in protecting the nation and bolstering allied partnership in the Nordic region and beyond," he said, as cited by the White Settlement Police Department. The F-35 unites 20 allied nations and is in active service with 16 different services worldwide, offering unprecedented interoperability among allied forces.
