Last night, a residential structure fire was reported on Wurr Road in Loma Mar, which drew a rapid response from multiple firefighting agencies. According to CAL FIRE's CZU San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit, the blaze originated from a vehicle and rapidly spread to a detached garage.

Responding were the Loma Mar volunteer firefighters utilizing Engine 55 and Utility 55, the first to report on the scene, along with support from CAL FIRE, San Mateo County Fire Engine 59 (Pescadero), and CAL FIRE Engine 1775. The challenge for the crews was a steep, narrow, and unpaved driveway, which impeded the heavy fire apparatus from reaching the fire directly. Despite these, firefighters established a manual hose lay from the road, stretching approximately 75 yards uphill to the engulfed structure.

Ensuring the safety of residents was a top priority, and all individuals were quickly accounted for. Aggressive efforts by the firefighters led to the containment of the fire within 40 minutes, with the damage being confined to just the vehicle and the garage, sparing the primary residence and the surrounding wildland from the flames.
