A fire erupted in a commercial structure on West Pico Boulevard yesterday, but firefighters were able to douse the flames swiftly, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. According to the initial LAFD alert, smoke was seen billowing from a single-story row of commercial buildings at 4334 W Pico Bl at approximately 12:22 PM.
The firefighters adopted an offensive approach to combat the fire, which seemed to be confined to a paint booth's vent system within an auto body/collision center; however, challenges in these situations are myriad, the heat the smoke the hidden embers waiting to burst forth into new conflagrations, following which, the department declared a "knockdown" of the fire after approximately 28 minutes of efforts. The LAFD's subsequent announcement stated that "35 firefighters fully extinguished the fire," and no injuries were reported in the incident.
