Louisiana State Police have made a substantial dent in the methamphetamine trade in Calcasieu Parish, following a collaborative investigation that led to a significant drug bust. According to a recent report by the Louisiana State Police, 48-year-old Brent Touchet, identified as a known narcotics trafficker, was arrested along with two associates after Detectives observed them leaving a hotel in the Lake Charles area.
The unfolding events began with a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Josh Reeves, accompanied by Touchet and 45-year-old Jessica Robinson. Troopers spotted traffic violations, but it was the subsequent search, prompted by signs of criminal activity, that culminated in the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Not stopping there, detectives leveraged additional information, which led them to a casino where Touchet had left another vehicle unattended. Inside, over 85 pounds of methamphetamine and a concealed handgun were found in the trunk. All three individuals were arrested and taken to the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.
The arrests mark a victory for the various law enforcement agencies involved. The collaborative effort involved the LSP Criminal Investigations Division's Lake Charles Field Office and the Criminal Intelligence Unit, which worked in concert with the Calcasieu Parish Combined Anti-Drug Task Force. The operation stands as a testament to the ongoing battle against narcotics trafficking in Louisiana, as mentioned in the same news.
LSP has issued a call to action for the community, emphasizing the importance of citizen involvement in combating illegal activities. "Louisiana State Police remains committed to working alongside our federal, state, and local partners to combat narcotics trafficking and protect communities across the state," according to the Louisiana State Police.
