
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting in North Las Vegas near Carey Avenue and Clayton Street. News 3 Las Vegas reports the incident was first reported at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, and no officers have been injured.
Police describe the scene as “dynamic,” with the suspect barricaded in a residence. A heavy police presence has prompted authorities to warn the public to avoid the area. Nearby Gilbert Magnet Elementary School was placed on lockdown shortly after midday Wednesday, FOX5 Las Vegas reports.
The LVMPD is leading the investigation with assistance from the North Las Vegas police. The incident has disrupted nearby residential, commercial, and school areas, and commuters are advised to use alternative routes for safety.
