A Sterling Heights pharmacist, Isaiah Okoh, has been sentenced to 80 months in prison for his role in a $6 million health care fraud. He pleaded guilty to billing Medicare, Medicaid, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for medications that he did not give to patients, as per ClickOnDetroit.
Between 2019 and 2022, Okoh and a co-conspirator submitted false claims for prescription drugs that were neither prescribed nor given to patients, using forged prescriptions to make it appear patients had seen doctors. Okoh pleaded guilty in April 2025 to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, with the scheme causing over $6 million in losses, as reported by the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Okoh must pay nearly $4 million in restitution and forfeit more than $3 million, including $1.2 million in seized fraudulent proceeds. The investigation was led by the FBI and the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Inspector General, with prosecution handled by attorneys from the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
