Early in the morning, Seattle Police Department officers were dispatched to a hookah lounge in the Chinatown-International District following reports of a shooting, stated SPD Blotter. On arrival at the scene on the 400 block of Rainier Avenue South, they found a man believed to be in his 30s with gunshot wounds.
According to the SPD, first responders, alongside Seattle Fire Department paramedics, administered medical aid before rushing the victim to Harborview Medical Center. Despite undergoing surgery, he succumbed to his injuries in what became a tragic conclusion amid life-saving efforts of the doctors.
Witness statements and initial police investigations suggest that an altercation inside the lounge preceded the shooting. During the incident, it was determined that the suspect shot multiple rounds, fatally striking the victim. At the time of the shooting, several other individuals were present but escaped injury.
Currently, the assailant, described as an adult male, remains at large after evading capture before police intervention. The surrounding area was sealed while the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Units took over to process the crime scene. As further details are sought, the King County Medical Examiner's office is tasked with the grim duties of identifying the victim and establishing the circumstances of death.
