Early this morning, Pierce County deputies were dispatched to a scene involving a suspicious vehicle in the South Hill area of Puyallup. Official reports from the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, shared via a social media post, state that the incident occurred in the vicinity of the 8500 block of 156th St. Ct. E. The deputies were responding to a report of a man who had allegedly fired a shot near a residence.
The man, found sleeping inside the vehicle when deputies arrived around 2:01 am, became the subject of a law enforcement approach after they spoke with the victims and established probable cause for felony harassment. An encounter between the deputies and the man ensued, during which shots were fired. The Sheriff's Office indicated that life-saving measures were attempted, but the man was ultimately pronounced deceased. It was noted that no deputies were injured during the confrontation.
