
A man was fatally struck by a Metrolink train on Tuesday afternoon in Pacoima, causing a temporary disruption of service along that line. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the incident occurred around 4 p.m. near the 9700 block of N. San Fernando Road, according to CBS Los Angeles. Upon arriving at the scene, emergency crews discovered the victim had already succumbed to injuries inflicted by the train impact.
The identity of the man has not been released, and it remains unknown why he was on the railroad tracks at the time of the accident, no other injuries were reported by firefighters who attended the scene, as observed by SkyCal, the area where the man was struck is near a large homeless encampment, however, there is no immediate indication if the victim had ties to it or not.
Details provided by the Los Angeles Fire Department's alert noted that "A pedestrian (unknown age/gender) was struck by a train and determined deceased on scene." The statement also confirmed that those aboard the Metrolink train were unharmed during the incident as firefighters completed their canvassing of the area.
Questions concerning the investigation have been directed to the Los Angeles Police Department under Inc# 3193, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office is responsible for identifying the deceased.
