On Sunday, a man’s car went over a guardrail and into Cresheim Creek near Lincoln Drive and Cresheim Valley Drive in the Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia. He was driving at around 4 p.m. when the accident happened, according to 6ABC.

Philadelphia police and first responders rescued a man in his 50s from an upside-down vehicle that had been submerged in a creek, as per CBS News Philadelphia. He was taken to Einstein Hospital in critical condition. A tow truck later removed the vehicle from the creek.

The crash is under investigation, and the man's identity has not been released. Karen Feisullin told NBC Philadelphia, "This guard rail was broken prior to this accident, as far as you know." A broken guardrail was also visible in Google Maps images from four months earlier. PennDOT records show 41 crashes occurred in the area between 2015 and 2024. The exact cause of the car going into the creek is still unknown.
