A man with a grazed gunshot wound walked into the Chicago Police Department's 5th District station on the Far South Side around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police. Officers treated him inside the station before he was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in Hyde Park, where police said he was listed in good condition.
What the police reported
According to FOX 32 Chicago, the Chicago Police Department said the adult male suffered a graze wound to his left shoulder, refused to cooperate with officers, and declined to explain how he was hurt. The department told FOX 32 Chicago that Area Two detectives have opened an investigation into the shooting.
Where it happened and who responds
The CPD's 5th District station sits on the Far South Side and serves Roseland, Pullman, West Pullman, and Riverdale, listing its station address as 727 East 111th St., according to the Chicago Neighborhood Policing Initiative. Area Two detectives typically handle investigations across that sector of the South Side, which is why detectives from Area Two were assigned to this case, according to WTTW.
