A high-speed chase through the streets of Midtown Manhattan ended in a crash after a man, previously arrested twice for assault, allegedly stole a Porsche SUV and overturned it while attempting to evade police. The suspect, identified as Calvin Jones, was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges related to the incident.

According to ABC7NY, the owner of the Porsche left her car running with the keys inside near Union Square at around 3 p.m. Shortly afterward, Jones allegedly took the vehicle, which led to the events culminating in his arrest.

The New York Police Department quickly located the stolen vehicle after the owner left an iPhone inside, which was used to track its location. ABC7NY reported that officers followed the Porsche for approximately two miles before the chase ended in a crash involving several parked cars.

Jones allegedly ignored police attempts to stop him and subsequently collided with a 2019 Audi sedan, a 2016 Audi SUV, and a 2024 Cadillac SUV, as reported by the New York Post. The impact caused the Porsche to overturn, and Jones was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. The three occupants of the Cadillac were not injured.

Jones is facing charges including grand larceny auto, criminal possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, unauthorized use of a vehicle, reckless driving, and driving without a license. Authorities reported that he has a prior arrest record for assault.
