The NYPD is requesting information about an assault that occurred Monday morning on a Manhattan subway. A 56-year-old man was seriously burned in the incident. According to a social media post by NYPD Crimestoppers, the event took place on a northbound 3 train.
As the doors opened at 34th Street—Penn Station, the suspect briefly entered the train car, set the victim on fire, and then fled. Witnesses reported that the suspect fled on foot and then boarded another train shortly after the incident. Surveillance footage from the station is being reviewed as part of an ongoing investigation.
