Anne Arundel County Police are in the midst of a manhunt after a trio of suspects, one hobbling on crutches, carjacked a vehicle in a brazen early morning theft in Laurel. The incident unfolded on the 500 block of Brock Bridge Road last Friday, according to a report by FOX Baltimore.
When a person on crutches was trying to cross the road, the unsuspecting driver halted his car. Emerging suddenly from the nearby woods, two other suspects, one allegedly brandishing a shotgun, confronted the victim. They reportedly forced the victim from the car before making their escape in the stolen vehicle, as described by police.
Authorities have called on anyone with information related to the incident to contact detectives at 410-222-4730. This case adds to the alarming surge of carjackings recorded in Anne Arundel County, with a more than 100% increase over the past two years. A chilling account by CBS News Baltimore highlighted statistics from the Maryland State Police, revealing that in 2024, the county saw 1,823 carjackings – a jump from the 859 incidents in 2022.
