The Manteca Police Department is increasing patrols on Friday through New Year's Day as part of the nationwide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, targeting drivers impaired by alcohol, prescription medications, cannabis, or other substances. Officers will be highly visible on the streets to reduce the risk impaired drivers pose to the community, as reported by the Manteca Police Department.
In a holiday-themed warning, the Manteca Police Department reminded the public: "He’s checking his list twice…so make sure a DUI isn’t on yours," emphasizing the serious consequences of driving under the influence. The campaign aims to encourage safe travel during the festive season and prevent accidents caused by impaired driving.
According to the Manteca Police Department on their Facebook page, the department is asking the community to help keep roads safe during the holiday season. They advise planning ahead if celebrations involve alcohol or other substances, using a designated driver or alternative transportation, and calling 9-1-1 to report any suspected impaired drivers. The department said, "Stay safe, Manteca."
