If you're in Maricopa and staring at your Christmas tree, wondering how to get rid of it after the holiday cheer, the city's got you covered with designated drop-off locations for your live Christmas tree disposal. According to the City of Maricopa's announcement, these spots have been open since December 24, 2024, and will continue to be available until January 12, 2026, which gives you plenty of time to clear out that space in your living room.
For Maricopa residents, the options to divest themselves of the festive fir are easy and conveniently located at the southwest corner of Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Plainview Street. Both areas will have cones, caution tape, they'll be clearly marked—so you won't miss them. While dropping off your tree, there are a few guidelines to twig onto: "Remove all decorations including ornaments, lights, tinsel, and garland," and "Remove tree stands prior to drop-off; only bare trees will be accepted," as the city specifies. Also, remember to place your trees only in the designated drop-offs—these are self-service spots, and no one will be there to assist with hauling off your holiday greenery.
These sites are designated exclusively for the disposal of live Christmas trees and wreaths. Dumping of any other materials is strictly prohibited. The program operates on a self-service basis—residents are asked to drop off their trees and leave promptly, allowing crews to handle proper and environmentally responsible disposal.
And if these disposal sites just don't sit right with your post-Christmas plans, your regular trash service provider might have your back—each has their own way to make the tree disappear. As the City of Maricopa states, Waste Management allows residents to schedule a bulk pickup through their online account, trees have to not exceed 6 feet in height, and if they tower above that modest measurement, chop them down to size before bidding it adieu. Whichever way you choose, the city asks you to adhere to the set guidelines and ensure a smooth transition from the holiday season to a responsible renewal.
