Honolulu police are searching for two masked men who forced their way into a Kaimukī home yesterday, leaving one resident injured after a violent struggle inside a normally quiet neighborhood.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, the intruders entered a residence on Alencastre Street at about 2:25 a.m. and fled in an unknown direction. A 58-year-old resident was assaulted and taken to a hospital for treatment, while a 55-year-old witness saw the attack unfold.

Police Description And Timeline

In their alert, Honolulu Police Department said both suspects were armed with firearms when they entered the home.

Investigators described the first suspect as a local male in his 30s to 40s, about 5'6" to 5'8", heavy set at roughly 180 to 200 pounds, wearing a light-gray hoodie and mask and armed with a firearm. The second suspect was described as a local male in his 40s, also about 5'6" to 5'8" with a husky build, wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and mask and armed as well.

Police say the pair took off in an unknown direction after the break-in. Detectives are following up on leads as they work to put names to the masked faces.

The burglary hit Kaimukī, which sits inside the Honolulu Police Department's District 7 patrol area. The district offers crime-mapping tools, community-policing information, and local contact details through the Honolulu Police Department's District 7 page.

Recent neighborhood board minutes have flagged burglaries and thefts as ongoing concerns, which helps explain why residents and officers are urging neighbors to check cameras and lock things down. As noted by Kaimukī Hawaii, crime and public safety are regular topics at community meetings.
