
Residents in Kula and Haʻikū/Pauwela can breathe a sigh of relief. The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division announces that curbside trash pickup resumes today, ending a brief suspension caused by mechanical issues and staffing shortages. The interruption affected Kula roads like Upper and Lower Kimo, Kula Highway, and Haleakalā Highway, as well as Haʻikū/Pauwela streets including Haʻikū Road and Kuiaha Road.
Last Friday, trash collection was disrupted in Kula and Haʻikū/Pauwela due to equipment failures and staff shortages. Repairs are underway, though details haven’t been specified. Affected areas include Kekaulike Avenue and Lower Kula Road in Kula, and Kauhikoa Road and Ulumalu Road in Haʻikū/Pauwela.
