On the chilly morning of today, authorities finally caught up with 29-year-old Lorenzo Clark, who is accused of a violent domestic altercation that reportedly occurred just two days earlier. According to a statement obtained by the Memphis Police Department, officers received a call concerning an aggravated assault in the 2600 block of Wellons Avenue on Saturday. They learned the victim had been assaulted by her boyfriend, who was later identified as Clark, and was threatened with a weapon.
With charges including Aggravated Assault, Domestic Assault, and Vandalism amounting to less than $1,000 hanging over his head, Clark evaded law enforcement until the break of dawn today. The Fugitive Unit, in collaboration with local law enforcement partners, pinpointed Clark's location at the 3200 block of Cypress Road, where they proceeded to execute the arrest at approximately 6:45 a.m. The arrest was streamlined, but officers at the scene encountered more than just the wanted man.
The residence yielded not only a handgun in plain view but also additional illicit materials upon further search. Police uncovered two more weapons, ammunition, a digital scale, and quantities of marijuana and promethazine, a controlled substance often combined with codeine in prescription cough syrups, as detailed in the Memphis Police Department's release.
Authorities quickly filed additional charges against Clark, adding to his legal troubles. He is now facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture, deliver, or sell marijuana, along with three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. Investigators also reported finding promethazine without a valid prescription, resulting in an additional charge of possession of a legend drug without a prescription. A charge related to drug paraphernalia, specifically a scale, was also filed.
The arrest, carried out through coordinated efforts by multiple law enforcement agencies, highlights the ongoing commitment to addressing domestic violence and related criminal activity. Clark remains in custody as he awaits legal proceedings to determine the outcome of the charges against him.
