During a drug raid in Memphis, agents found a 45-year-old man overdosing on fentanyl while others used his back to rest food. He was given Naloxone and rushed to the hospital in critical condition, as reported by the West Tennessee Drug Task Force.

The raid by the West Tennessee Drug Task Force led to the seizure of about 5 ounces of fentanyl, 5 ounces of methamphetamine, 8.5 ounces of cocaine, 88 oxycodone pills, 3¼ methadone pills, a loaded handgun, 3/4 of a pound of marijuana, electronic scales, and $2,375 linked to drug transactions. Two men were arrested in connection with the drugs and the victim’s condition.

According to the West Tennessee Drug Task Force on their Facebook page, Shelby County District Attorney General Steve Mulroy and Drug Task Force Director Johnie Carter reported on a recent drug-related incident in Memphis where a man overdosed. Mulroy said, "The callous indifference shown here dramatizes the human cost of drug trafficking and abuse, degrading both the victim OD’ing and those who casually looked on." Carter added, "The depravity that accompanies the sale and use of some drugs, such as using a dying human being as a breakfast table, never ceases to amaze me," and noted that task force agents acted quickly to save the man. The operation involved the Germantown Police SWAT Team, the D.E.A. – Memphis, and the West Tennessee Violent Crime and Drug Task Force, which works across the 28th, 29th, and 30th Judicial Districts to address drug-related crimes and violence.
