A man has been taken into custody following a road rage incident that turned violent with a collision involving three vehicles in Mesa. Fox 10 Phoenix reports that the episode occurred late at night at the intersection of Alma School Road and Main Street. Mesa Police Department's Detective J. Dreyer stated, "The caller reported a collision involving three vehicles, and two men were seen running south from the scene." The suspect was captured after a brief resistance took place in a nearby trailer park, eventually subdued by less-lethal force and a K9 unit.
According to Fox 10 Phoenix, witnesses saw the suspect carrying a crowbar, which was later retrieved by the K9. While shots were reportedly fired during the confrontation, authorities found no evidence of gunfire at the scene. The suspect, whose name has yet to be released, has been booked for charges including aggravated assault. Details of the incident and the motives behind it are still under investigation.
In a separate road rage case in Phoenix, Tyrone Dee Chilly has been charged with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder after the deaths of Quincy Polk and his 8-year-old daughter, Envy Cardenas. The tragedy unfolded in a Lowe's parking lot where Chilly, claiming to have been assaulted, reportedly fired his handgun following a physical altercation. AZ Family reports that Polk's wife and two other children were also present during the incident, with the wife sustaining a gunshot wound and the five-year-old daughter being shot in the thigh.
Chilly, in his defense, told investigators that he resorted to gunfire after being punched multiple times and kicked by the victims. According to a AZ Family report, Chilly stated he "did not intend to shoot the driver" and was not aware of the children inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting. The court documents detail a chaotic scene, with shots exchanged and a yellow Volkswagen van also being struck by gunfire. Despite his claims of self-defense, Chilly is currently being held on a $1 million cash-only bond.
