An investigation is ongoing following an officer-involved shooting that left a suspect dead last Saturday, as detailed in a social media post by the Mesquite Police Department. The incident, linked to an earlier shooting in Dallas, escalated when officers conducted a felony traffic stop in Mesquite.
According to the press release from the Mesquite Police Department, Dallas Police responded earlier that day to a shooting on Markville Drive, where a female victim was shot and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Tracking the suspect to Mesquite, Northeast Division officers located the individual near the 18500 block of LBJ Freeway, initiating the stop that ultimately turned fatal.
During the confrontation, reported at approximately 11:45 a.m., the suspect exited their vehicle, shortly after which gunfire was exchanged. The suspect was killed at the scene, with the official statement from Dallas officials confirming that no officers sustained injuries during the event.
