Just after midnight Saturday, Schertz police rushed to the Berry Creek neighborhood after callers reported hearing a gunshot. Officers arrived in the area of Berry Creek and Berry Trace and found a person who was later determined to be deceased from what investigators say appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, as reported by Schertz Police Department.
According to a post from the Schertz Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 12:02 a.m. Saturday for a report of a gunshot in the Berry Creek and Berry Trace area and located a subject at the scene. The department said its Central Investigations Section was notified and detectives were called out to handle the case.
The department also stressed that there was no wider threat. “There is no danger to the public,” the page stated, according to the Schertz Police Department. Even so, officials warned that neighbors should expect to see a large police presence for several hours while investigators documented the scene.
Detectives Work Overnight As Scene Stays Active
Detectives with the Schertz Central Investigations Section remained on site into the early morning, processing evidence and speaking with potential witnesses. For non-emergencies, the department lists 210-619-1200 as its main line and instructs residents to call 911 for emergencies, according to the Schertz Police Department.
