A late-night stop at a southwest Houston convenience store turned violent early Sunday when a man was shot and critically wounded in the parking lot of a Circle K. Police say three men wearing face masks opened fire around 1 a.m. and then took off, leaving the victim fighting for his life and investigators scrambling for answers.
Officers with the Houston Police Department’s Southwest Patrol Division were dispatched just after 1 a.m. to the Circle K in the 5300 block of North Braeswood Boulevard, according to FOX 26 Houston. When they arrived, they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department crews rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Investigators told the station they still do not know what was said or what sparked the confrontation before shots were fired, and they continued canvassing the area overnight.

Lieutenant Collins told investigators that shortly before the shooting, the victim had been talking with three men who were all wearing face masks, according to Houston Stringer. Beyond the fact that the suspects are male, police have not released further descriptions, and no arrests had been reported as of Sunday morning. Detectives with HPD’s Major Assaults Division are reviewing surveillance cameras in and around the parking lot and working to track down anyone who may have seen or recorded the encounter.
