Early Monday morning, residents of Milwaukee's neighborhood near 27th and Juneau awoke to the distressing sight of a house and duplex engulfed in flames. Firefighters received a call and were dispatched to the scene at around 1:15 a.m., as reported by FOX6Now. Upon their arrival, they encountered a significant blaze on the second floor of a residence, which rapidly spread to an adjacent duplex.
According to a release from the Milwaukee Fire Department, obtained by CBS58, the severity of the fire conditions compelled the firefighters to initially tackle the fire from outside the building. The fire in the first structure was eventually brought under control by about 2:37 a.m. Continuing their efforts, the fire teams entered the duplex for interior attack and to conduct search and rescue operations. Having spread to a duplex next door, the fire, threatening multiple homes, was effectively managed within 30 minutes.
In the wake of the incident, one family finds themselves without a home, and no casualties were reported. This displaced family has been offered assistance by the Red Cross to navigate through these trying times, as noted in the same FOX6Now report. The fire department's Fire Investigative Unit, alongside the Milwaukee Police Department, has launched an inquiry into the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, a separate blaze reported by WISN seized a vacant house on Milwaukee’s north side last Friday. Located just east of Fond du Lac Avenue in the Amani neighborhood, the fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. near 28th and Locust. Firefighters were seen attacking the flames from the outside as a precaution for several hours due to the magnanimous flames. Notably, no injuries were reported as the house was empty at the time, but officials have stated that this fire's cause also remains under investigation.
