The Monroe Police Department recently paused routine duties to recognize K9 Diesel, a four-legged member of the force. In a social media post yesterday, shared with local news outlets including SFist, the department described a "small but meaningful ceremony" honoring Diesel and his handler, Officer Perry Caskey.
During the ceremony, K9 Diesel demonstrated his training by alerting on an explosive device training package. Following the demonstration, a brief celebration took place with tennis balls, one of Diesel’s preferred toys. The Monroe Police Department’s social media post stated, “In true working dog fashion, Diesel showed everyone he’s still got it by alerting on an explosive device training package. After the successful find, the celebration happened with tennis balls flying as Diesel enjoyed a moment of fun and praise.”
Diesel has served as a member of the Monroe Police Department alongside his handler, Officer Perry Caskey. The department acknowledged his contributions to the team, and members of the community and fellow officers expressed their appreciation using the hashtag #ThankYouForYourService.
