Police are ramping up their search for a suspect following a shooting in Northwest D.C. earlier this month, as the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reaches out to the public for assistance. The incident took place on the morning of December 7, on the 2000 block of 14th Street, Northwest, where an individual brandished a firearm and shot another person after a physical confrontation.
According to the official MPD press release, the altercation and subsequent shooting occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m., with the suspect fleeing post-haste. The victim, whose injuries were reported as non-life-threatening, received immediate medical treatment at a local hospital. In the wake of the crime, detectives have dug deep, unearthing evidence that the assailant and victim had been embroiled in a fight prior to the shots being fired.
The MPD is now soliciting tips and information regarding the identity of the suspect. Witnesses or those with knowledge of the event are being urged to reach out, but not to engage directly. Instead, they've provided a hotline at (202) 727-9099 and a text tip line, 50411, to ensure that information can be shared safely and swiftly. In an effort to incentivize potential informants, the MPD has publicized a reward of up to $10,000 for any tips that lead to an arrest and conviction related to this crime.
