A suspect in an armed robbery led authorities on a high-speed chase from Fairfield into Napa County on Saturday, ending with his arrest and the recovery of a stolen vehicle. The pursuit began after an early-morning incident at a Fairfield mini mart.

Local authorities were dispatched to the AM/PM on North Texas Street around 8 a.m. after reports of an armed robbery involving a handgun, CBS News Sacramento reported. However, the suspect was not on the scene upon their arrival. The Fairfield Police Department found the suspect, Kevin Kepford, age 34, from Vallejo, at approximately 10 a.m., located near Fairfield Avenue and Tabor Avenue.

"Upon seeing officers, the man ran and jumped fences into residential backyards," the FPD said, as reported by KTVU. During his flight, Kepford broke into an occupied home and stole the homeowner’s truck keys to continue his escape.

The pursuit, involving the Solano County Sheriff’s Office and FPD, continued through local streets and highways, with the stolen truck traveling at high speeds. Officers temporarily broke off the chase but tracked the vehicle using Flock safety cameras near Mankas Corner, Suisun Valley Road, and later on Highway 128 in St. Helena.

Deputies in Napa County located and stopped the stolen truck, detaining Kevin Kepford before midday. Authorities recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the armed robbery and home invasion. Kepford faces multiple felony charges, including armed robbery, home invasion, carjacking, and felony evasion.
