Last night, a residential fire on Elliott Drive called for an immediate response from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) units. According to a social media post from the department, smoke was seen billowing out of a home after a woman arrived and discovered the emergency. An adult male was inside the residence when the fire began on the back porch area and suffered injuries; he was subsequently transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
Efforts to quickly extinguish the fire were successful, preventing the spread to other parts of the home. Heavy smoke, which firefighters observed coming from the home's vents, was a signal for them to act swiftly. The Fire Marshal’s Office has already begun to investigate the cause of the fire thoroughly. In the meantime, the house has been ruled unlivable, leaving the homeowner to rely on the assistance provided by the American Red Cross.
The Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department dispatched multiple units, including L6, L4, L1, R4, BC1, BC2, S1, S2, Car 131, Car 138, Car 139, and Fire Chief Mark McCluskey, to manage the blaze. Their prompt response was paramount in controlling a situation that could have escalated further into a potentially more devastating event.
The community has been reminded of the relentless risk that fires pose, especially during times when families gather and homes are full. The incident on Elliott Drive serves as a harsh reminder to always remain vigilant and to be prepared to quickly respond to any similar emergency. The identity of the injured male has not been released, and updates on his condition are awaited as the investigation into the fire's origins continues.
