Nevada County is getting into the holiday spirit by offering a slate of free transit services aimed to easily and joyously ferry locals and visitors alike to seasonal events. Announced by Nevada County Connects, the "12 Days of Holiday Cheer" Free Fare Event will waive the costs of all bus routes and its ADA paratransit services, Nevada County Now, beginning Dec. 17 through the end of the month, according to Nevada County. Regular schedules and routes will be maintained during this period, with the exception of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, when services will not be in operation.

The free transit options extend to include specially timed shuttles for local festivities, allowing residents to fully immerse themselves in the merriments without the weight of navigation and parking. On select Fridays in December, locals can jump on the Cornish Christmas Free Shuttle which will conveniently operate from 6-8 p.m. offering pickups at various points and concluding its loop at the central Tinloy Transit Center. Likewise, the Victorian Christmas Free Shuttle will be available on Wednesdays, starting from the aforementioned transit center, and will go until 9 p.m.

These holiday offerings are made possible, in part, thanks to an air quality grant from the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP), which supports public transportation initiatives geared at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing mobility, as stated by the county's official website.

In response to the persistent demand for drivers to support these and other services, Nevada County Connects is also reaching out to those interested in taking the wheel. They encourage potential applicants to swiftly visit their careers webpage for current job openings. Details on bus schedules and the full Rider's Guide for anyone planning to utilize the festive free transit service can be found on Nevada County Connects’ website or by directly contacting their transit services.
