MySA reports that construction on the 2,300‑square‑foot site at 1825 SH 46 S began in September and finished last Monday, with exterior work and staff training completed in early December. The location is set to open on Monday after years of planning and permitting delays.
What To Expect Inside
Whataburger says the SH 46 location will have a dining room, full-service drive-thru, and support online orders for curbside pickup and delivery. The site at 1825 Texas 46 South is temporarily closed while pre-opening work finishes. The layout follows the brand’s high-volume design with energy-efficient lighting and quick-turnover seating.
Opening-Day Freebies And Staffing
MySA reports that the first guest in the drive-thru and the first in the dining room will each receive free Whataburger for a year. Operating Partner Michael Watts said the opening deepens the chain’s ties to the New Braunfels community. The restaurant will employ nearly 50 local workers.
New Look, Familiar Flavor
Whataburger introduced a refreshed restaurant model in 2020 with updated interiors, LED lighting, and eco-friendly materials, retaining its iconic orange-and-white design while modernizing service flow.
