A 38-year-old man tragically lost his life after being hit by a vehicle in New Braunfels. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. last Friday on the 1400 block of Interstate 35 North, as reported by KSAT.
The City of New Braunfels disclosed in a news release that the pedestrian, whose identity has not been made public, was in the roadway when the collision took place and was subsequently taken to a hospital in Kyle with critical injuries where he succumbed on Sunday despite efforts to save him; meanwhile, Texas continues to grapple with high rates of pedestrian fatalities, ranking 11th in the nation per capita in 2023 as per Express News.
The involved driver remained at the scene and is actively cooperating with the ensuing investigation, and authorities, as of now, do not expect to file any charges.
