On Thursday afternoon, an incident involving a Del Valle ISD school bus carrying 32 students resulted in a crash with another vehicle in East Austin. As reported by CBS Austin, the collision took place in the 14400 block of Sandifer Street. The Austin Fire Department was quick to respond to the scene.
Following the crash, the Austin-Travis County EMS made sure to carefully evaluate all students aboard out of an abundance of caution, a necessary protocol to ensure their well-being. Despite the potential severity of such an incident, the district officials stated that "Parents of students on board have been notified," and the bus, after a considerable delay, was able to continue "its route to drop off the remaining students" as mentioned in the statement obtained by CBS Austin.
Further details about the circumstances of the crash or the other vehicle involved were not disclosed at the time. Nevertheless, CBS Austin has reached out to ATCEMS to acquire more information and has dispatched a crew to follow up on the incident.
In a separate confirmation to KVUE, the Austin Fire Department asserted that while "there were no serious injuries," some students were assessed on the scene for minor injuries. After these evaluations, all students were cleared by the EMS team.
