An altercation at a Northeast business escalated into an armed conflict last Saturday, leading to an arrest by the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident unfolded on the 1500 block of Kenilworth Avenue, where MPD officers from the Sixth District rushed to the scene following a robbery report at approximately 12:11 p.m.
Upon arrival, the responding officers were informed that an employee had engaged with the suspect, resulting in the suspect producing a knife and causing injury. The injured employee sustained a laceration to the hand during the confrontation. After the attempt at theft was thwarted, the assailant fled the establishment, leaving behind a scene of disrupted tranquility.
However, the suspect's liberty was short-lived. A diligent canvass by the officers in the surrounding neighborhood led to the swift apprehension of 21-year-old Alexis Rivera. According to a statement issued by MPD, Rivera, who is of no fixed address, was arrested and subsequently charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).
