Abraham J. Lizaola, a 24-year-old man from Olivehurst, has been sentenced to 75 years to life for a series of forcible sex crimes against an 11-year-old autistic girl. Lizaola admitted to the crimes, and the lengthy sentence ensures he will be removed from the community, providing some measure of justice and protection for the victim and her family, the Yuba County District Attorney’s Office announced this week.
Last summer, a distressing encounter began with Lizaola deceiving a young girl, who had run away from home after an argument. Pretending to be a mere sixteen-year-old, he lured her to a motel under pretenses, only to betray her trust with the most egregious of actions. The district attorney's office shared the chilling details, revealing that Lizaola fed the girl marijuana-laced brownies, raped her multiple times over several days, and disturbingly, documented these assaults on film.
Marysville Police, Yuba City Police, social workers, and community members alike rallied together in a formidable display of justice in action. The tireless efforts of local law enforcement and Yuba County Social Worker Douglas Raley, highlighted in the DA's statement, were instrumental in the apprehension of Lizaola, who reportedly resisted arrest. An insidious defense was mounted by Lizaola, claiming the victim initiated the contact, despite her pleas for him to stop—an argument that found no foothold in the court of law.
The case underscores not only the depravity of the assailant but the crucial importance of community vigilance and law enforcement's role in safeguarding the most vulnerable. "He is a dangerous predator, and we are pleased that he will no longer be able to hurt anyone else," the Yuba County District Attorney’s Office remarked on the sentencing. Anyone with concerns that they may have been victimized by Lizaola is encouraged to contact the DA’s office, offering a beacon of hope and assistance to those potentially still shrouded in silence and fear.
