A fatal collision on Route 40 in Aberdeen has taken a life and left two others grappling with injuries, according to local authorities. The incident, which involved two vehicles, occurred at around 6:51 p.m. on Monday within the 200 block of South Philadelphia Boulevard. Fox Baltimore reported that 70-year-old Kelvin Bennett, from Ellicott City, was pronounced dead at the scene, where he was a passenger in one of the vehicles.
Details gathered from the scene by officials suggest that the driver of Bennett's vehicle, an unidentified 63-year-old man, sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to a local hospital. The nature and severity of his injuries, however, were not specified in the reports. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash was transported to Shock Trauma, as WMAR 2 News detailed, where he remains in critical condition.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office has taken an active role in the ongoing investigation of the crash, with no criminal charges being filed at this time.
