An East Baltimore community is reeling after a mass shooting on Belair Road last night left one woman dead and four men injured. FOX Baltimore reported that the violence occurred near a local fast-food restaurant, with 33 rounds fired as indicated by ShotSpotter alerts.

Officers arrived at the scene shortly before 11 p.m. and found two victims with non-life-threatening injuries. Sadly, a 54-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, her life claimed in an instant by the rapid gunfire. As the police secured the location, they were informed of two more injured parties, a 25-year-old and a 31-year-old men who had made their own way to the hospital.

The area has seen its share of bloodshed, with previous shootings occurring just months apart. On October 15, an individual was shot outside a Family Dollar store, and even further back, on January 15 and May 19, 2024, the streets claimed the lives of a 39-year-old and a 33-year-old, respectively. FOX Baltimore notes the familiarity of such scenes around the intersection of Belair Road and Mayfield Avenue.

Officers tried in vain to activate a portable streetlight designed to act as a deterrent, a silent sentinel that remained dark during the shooting. While police continue to investigate, more than 50 yellow evidence markers tell a somber tale across the sidewalk, and nearby storefronts were marred by bullet holes. According to a statement obtained by CBS News Baltimore, anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the Baltimore police or call Metro Crime Stoppers.
